Improved somewhat since Quinno’s visit, it’s now nicely decorated including installation of an impressive mechanical clock on one wall, a good talking point, and Gothic-style murals. There are lots of wooden benches and chairs, and people were standing at the bar chatting. Cask ales on were Oakham Citra, Bristol Red Rocket and, Vibrant Forest Castanea. On keg were Bravo Zulu, Rivers Double Barrelled, Cold Water Fest Bier, Wells’s Nest Baby, New Bristol Brewery’s Lime and Raspberry Crumble and BBF’s Milk Stout. There were also 6 real ciders and a selection of foreign beers in cans and bottles. The atmosphere was convivial, helped by 1970s rock on the stereo. Well worth a visit, including the 20 minute walk from the marina.

Very new micropub of the more basic variety – green and off white walls, a chipboard bar, little in the way of fixtures and fittings leading to a loud and echoey din. Six cask on stillage with three on, my Buxton Right to Roam was stillage-like (NBSS 3) but fine. Ciders and keykeg also available, I decided to have a go at the Dig Brew Café Kinda Nice which was a nice drop and came in a retro 1983 beerex mug. Quite a lively atmosphere inside for a Saturday lunchtime, so they seem to have filled a gap in the local market quite successfully. 6.5
